[Unit project ] Artifact with my sister

Nanami UP1

My artifact item is Hangyodon, japanese sanrio character, made of origami.

First, I will talk about observation my artifact. Its blue face with big and round eyes, and pink, horizontally enlongated mouth is so unique and impactful. Also, as the name suggests Hangyodon, the character's motif is a half-mermaid, so there are three fins on the facce. The left side's artifact item's origami is not ordinary, but shiny one.

Second, I will talk about my artifact's story. Before I did origami with her, I was very depressed because of heartbreak with my boyfriend who dated for 2 years. In deep grif, I could hardly eat anything and sleep enough. I was always crying anytime anywhere. In a week my weight dropped 5 kg and dark circles became noticeable on my face. My face looked like ugly day by day. My family woried about me, so I decided to go back to my hometown, Nagano. Dishes my mother cooked were so good, so little by little, my appetite recovered. And then my younger sister who was youger 10 years than me taked to me "let's do origami with me, please! ". However, I couldn't say "Yes " soon, because I still felt grif. I knew she liked playing with me, so I decided to do origami as her older sister. I suugested her " how about making Hangyodon by origami?". She said "Yeesss !!! That's nice idea ! ", because Hangyodon is her favorite character. So, we make the character by origami while watching the video on You Tube. The video on You Tube explained how to make it very easy to understand. We were glad to make it well.  Spending time with her made me feel better. My grief has diminished a lot, and I've been able to take a step back from my heartbreak. I bronght  this artffact to Niigata, so I still have this artffact in my room .

Finally, I will discuss cultural and educational implications of my artifact. Firstly, origami is one of the traditional pastimes in Japan. Overseas, it is known as "origami". Around 6 centruy, the method of manufacturing paper was introduced from Goguryeo, and Japan's unique improvements are called "washi". The main use of washi, a luxury product, was to coppy Bubbhist sutras and record things, but gradually it was used as wrapping paper foe offerings to the gods. At that time, the oriigin of origami was begining to make beautiful folds. Origami spread mainly among the aristocracy from the Muromachi period, and in the Edo period, Japanese papaer began to mess-produced, and high-quality paper became available at alow price, so origami spread to the common people. Origami was born from the fusion of the national character of the Japan people, who make effective use of resources and consider modesty to be a virtue, the culture of folding clothes and futons, and the sensibility that sees straight lines such as squares and rectangles as beauty.

Secondly, origami is not only for play, but also for educational purposes. Children who practice origami can develop concentration skills. Origami is a repetitive process of detailed work, so you can focus on your hand and develop your ability to concentrate. Also, they can train their thinking skills. Origami books are filled with intricate shapes. As you get used to the shapes, you will be able to cultivate the ability to think about how to fold them from a three-dimensional fold diagram to make it follow the textbook. In the future, when you are old enough to do mathematics, you will need to have the ability to think logically to accumulate and prove each logic. In origami, which proceeds with a bird's-eye view of the whole, you will naturally be able to acquire the ability to think.
